Ozone Disc Nucleolysis

At Nevada Pain and Spine Specialists, we strive to offer the latest and most effective non-surgical treatment options for our patients. Our practice is now offering, on a trial basis, a new treatment option for lumbar disc herniation. Ozone injection for disc herniation is a safe, minimally invasive treatment which has been extensively used in Europe for the past 10 years in thousands of patients. The published results are excellent and in certain cases, may be as effective as surgery. The treatment involves injection of ozone gas into the herniated disc. The ozone gas causes the disc to shrink, resolves the disc herniation, and relieves the pain and inflammation. The injection entails minimal discomfort, has been proven to be a safe and low risk procedure, and can be carried out in the office setting. There is much discussion regarding ozone therapy for disc herniation on the Web. This treatment is not yet FDA approved or covered by medical insurance. Because this treatment is new, it is presently considered non-conventional. Our practice has now accumulated nearly two years' experience with intradiscal ozone injection treatment for disc herniation, with overall excellent results, as published in the European medical literature. The safety of this procedure has been excellent, with the only noted side effects consisting of a transient (7-10 day) flare in pain. A medical evaluation, including lumbar MRI and X-Rays, is required before deciding if this treatment is right for you. Let your provider know if you are interested in this promising new treatment option for those suffering with disc herniation. Ozone treatment may be the non-surgical answer for your disc herniation.
